For Your Enjoyment
For weeks now rumours have been circulating about a supposedly 'big gig' at Doncaster Dome. While the Dome staff stayed tight lipped on the matters concerning the act, many of us thought nothing of it. Usually a big gig at The Dome is the equivalent of Paolo Nutini or The Feeling, perfect family entertainment, but nothing to get over excited about.
So of course shock immediately ensued as leaks of a supposed Kaiser Chiefs gig began on the internet. Dome staff, apparently not managing to keep their eager mouths shut had been letting drips of information to the public until...9th February was announced. A date before all others, the first to hear the Chiefs new material. Naturally most people turned a blind eye, the Kaiser Chiefs were indeed coming to Doncaster, yet everywhere you went people were denying it.
The Kaiser Chiefs PR refused to mention a gig in Doncaster but said that 'significant gigs were due to be announced shortly' and the Dome refused to mention anything of the gig.
Then details emerged on the Kaiser Chiefs forum that the BBC were involved and The Dome immediately admitted the gig was happening while ticket outlets suddenly announced tickets had sold out, without even going on sale.
Coincidentally the BBC announced a press release confirming the gig (funnily claiming the Kaiser's hail from Doncaster) and Ricky Wilson will make the official announcement on Chris Moyles this Monday. Not only will the gig be broadcast live on Radio 1 but Zane Lowe will also host the gig at The Dome which will then be available on BBCi.
For those of you hoping for tickets, stay tuned, and instantly glued for announcements (especially on Monday) and Good Luck.
