New to You- Los Campesinos!

The internet can be a tricky tool, especially when it comes to new music, bands can be heralded in a matter of weeks and be in national press by the fortnight.
This happens to be the case for Cardiff's Los Campesinos! After posting messages on various music forums the band found themselves receiving numerous compliments and suddenly realised it was time they move out of the garage.

Yet all still in university the band then found themselves caught in a whirlwind of hype, then backlash, then hype again as fans attending their local gigs vouched them too premature for the stage after NME reviewed their first gig outside Cardiff.

So whats the fuss all about? Charm for starters. When the seven piece released their debut EP, 'Hold on Now Youngster' last year they made the effort to create the artwork from glitter pens, weetabix boxes and colourful stickers with personal notes to each individual recipient.

Yet through their song 'It Started with a Mixx' we hear the band, full of perfectionists striving to make the absolute record. With the sweet indie twee pop the girls of the group provide the sugar and candy along with lead singer Gareth's vocals.

Though its their debut track 'You! Me! Dancing!' that has gained the band their current success. Building to a brilliant crescendo in the first minute from the moment the drums kick in its the perfect disco song. Talking of bedroom dancing and the glee of music the combination of light guitars and cheery xylophones make it ideal for playing when in the best of moods.

'Sweet Dreams, Sweet Cheeks' is also one of the bands' most accessible tracks with the build of a wonderful violin melody taking the lead with catchy vocals included.

Of course, its wasn't long before Welsh pioneer Huw Stephens picked up on the group and rumours were abound of record labels clambering to get to the band, who were still ultimately in their first stages.

The band, however proved they still held the cards as they signed to Witchita home of Blood Brothers, Bloc Party and Bright Eyes in December and are to embark on a tour along with the release of their debut single proper, 'You Throw Parties, We Throw Knives' proving early internet hype is no bad thing.
