Unwanted News Story of the Day

So this week the annual NME Award Nominations were announced, and with the Arctic Monkeys on course to take most of the gongs it appears for the second year in a row the Brits and NME are learning to get along by announcing very similar nominations. Of course there is one major difference and that is the NME Awards and nominations are voted purely by the public, yet this also has its downsides.

Looking at the Worst Album nominations you may find that half the NME loving audience found My Chemical Romance's Black Parade extremely unlistenable, so much so that its also nominated as one of the Albums of the Year. Does this mean they love to hate it? Or maybe they loved it before the NME pushed the emo kings onto every front cover.

The same can also be said for the Best and Worst New Band categories proving that not everyone likes the Kooks and most people are willing to listen to but not look at the Horrors.
All in all at least the NME are being slightly truthful. Its only so long before the hypocritical awards are thrown out the window to be replaced for a more ego friendly approach.

So for once, I encourage the people of NME to continue, mainly to see the look on Luke Pritchard's face as The Kooks are named Worst Band of the Year and Johnny Borrell's speech for Razorlight's Worst Album win.
