Arctic Monkeys- Brianstorm

During the last two weeks Arctic Monkeys have managed to run circles around the most hardcore of fans due to their impromptu gigs. So much so that it seems fans have almost forgotten new Arctic Monkeys material is on the horizon. Afterall with their previous single only released last September it is a surprise to find the new single 'Brianstorm' on the airwaves so soon.

Yet as a fan described listening to the new track as the following,

"I THINK I HAVE JUST DIED. MY HEART IS POUNDING SO FAST. I'VE HAD A PANIC ATTACK. THAT WAS. RIDICULOUSLY PERFECT. I AM DYING"

It suddenly became aware how anticipated this track is. But as 'Brianstorm' happens in such a whirlwind of guitars and drums it's hard to make head or tale of it. Whereas before Turner's lyrics were the most prominent and dominating part of the band's songs, now with the track having no visible chorus its the guitars that take centre stage. Unfortunately they are the same chords throughout but the thumping drums along with the breaks of silence do help to build despite the track having no clear development in its 3 minutes.

Yet with its pounding rhythm, chances are as Turner shouts "See you later innovator!" 'Brianstorm' will be the hit of indie clubs in days, and who knows maybe the best is still to come.

Ridiculous comment courtesy of Arctic Monkeys Forum.

Brianstorm, good or bad? Judge for yourself.

I really must admit that when I heard it on Zane Lowe last night, I was far from impressed. It just seems like the same structure and sequence as "When the Sun Goes Down" with "My Sharona" on speed stuck at the start.
