Canadian Massive

Owen Pallett aka Final Fantasy appears to have gone a little collaborating crazy recently. Following the announcement that Beirut will be giving the singer a helping hand on the next Final Fantasy album, Pallett appears to be spending his time working with anyone from Stars to Holy Fuck. However Pallett is just responsible for raising the bar, even for his standards by partnering with rapper Cadence Weapon for CBC Radio.

Now for those of you who are not familiar with Final Fantasy, Owen Pallett has managed to attract attention through his work with Arcade Fire and his ability to loop the violin onstage. He also won the Canadian version of the Mercury Music Prize, the Polaris last year.

Cadence Weapon aka Rollie Pemberton was also nominated for the award, resulting in both artists going head to head (see picture above) and from what I can gather he appears to be the Canadian equivalent of Dizzee Rascal.

So what happens when you match a classically trained games geek against a gangster rapper? Some very cool covers, one Win and Regine remix and Andrew Bird plagiarizing.
