Exit Calm at Vintage Rock Bar, Doncaster, September 20
With long black coats and scenester hair cuts Exit Calm look like they should be following a trend- yet as they take to the stage they're far from norm.
As the lead singer attempts to single handedly stare out every audience member in the room, the remainder of the band aim to create a sound so forceful it almost physically pins the audience to the wall. There are flashes of brilliance, particularly the off kilter guitar, yet the band are eager to pack in as much as possible and it shows.
With the guitars over complex yelps and the lead singer's swagger the group are a mish mash of ideas and are clearly inexperienced- that is until the bands almost anthemic force takes over leaving us deaf for at least two weeks and quaking in our boots. What can we say? Appearances can be misleading.
