Late Of The Pier, Midnight Juggernauts at The Foundry, Sheffield, October 10

Tonight wandering into The Foundry is like stepping into another world. As soon as the doors swing open there’s a gust of electro and a sea of fluorescent Primark clothing. Fuck Skins, the room is full of drunken students with a just-don’t-care attitude, and that’s before a single band has reached the stage.

Luckily the music runs a little deeper than tonight’s image and Midnight Juggernauts are no exception. With bouncing beats fused with hard rock anthems this trio bring a brash jolt to the evening. Wearing wizard’s robes the room instantly turns into an all night rave, as the large beats sweep you away.

Nothing is too big, too ridiculous for tonight and while others may take Late Of The Pier as a joke the band proves they’re having more than a laugh. As they launch into ‘Space And The Woods’ the youngsters go ape onstage leaving you thinking anyone can be in their position. The room instantly fills with slices of dance electro pushing the big beats over and over, until you’re gushing with rhythm only fuelled by the incessant strobe lighting.

As the room erupts for ‘The Bears Are Coming’ there’s something instantly exhilarating about this gig, something which immediately makes all other music obsolete. As we duck and dive the crowd surfers we’ll let the Skins fans off tonight. Dipping into Late Of The Pier’s world is an adventure that will never be forgotten.
